We are more than just a Church

It is fantastic to see our local Community groups getting back to using our church buildings for their activities.

And our stunning cloister gardens (open till 7pm) are just perfect for sitting in on a sunny day.

Since 1936 the Church has served the people in and around Blackford, in the south of Edinburgh between Morningside to the west and Mayfield to the east.

A member of the Church of Scotland, the church is notable for its fine architecture, friendly congregation, peaceful interior, exterior ambience and first-class organ.

Welcome to Reid Memorial Church, Edinburgh. The Church is a registered Charity, number SC014027. We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland.

Since 1936 the Church has served the people in and around Blackford, in the south of Edinburgh between Morningside to the west and Mayfield to the east.

Our disabled access and facilities to both the Church and the Halls have been much appreciated. The refurbished Large Hall offers comfortable and attractive surroundings for an increased range of activities. We are happy to make these facilities available to the community. Whether or not you decide to worship with us, you are assured of a warm welcome.

The Reid Memorial is in a linked charge with Craigmillar Park and we share a minister, Rev. Alex McAsuprren. Craigmillar Park services are every Sunday at 9:45am. You can read more about Craigmillar Park Church in their website, link here. To contact the minister or anyone at the Reid see below or click here.

The Reid has around 200 members and many more regular attendees. To find out what to expect and to find out about our services then click here.

Our stunningly beautiful church building (Building page is under construction) with elaborate wood carvings and beautiful stained glass windows sits at the corner of Blackford Avenue and West Savile Terrace in south Edinburgh. Click here (link to How to Find us Page) to find out how to get to the church and also the church halls which are used by a large number of community groups (link to weekday activities). We have the original organ which plays during services and accompanies singing.

Set in large gardens, with cloisters which provide a haven of peace at this busy junction, our three church halls are available to hire. You can find out more about the history and craftsmanship of the building when that section becomes available (building page under construction).

We hope that you find this web site helpful and informative - whether you are seeking a new spiritual home, searching for something specific or simply wondering 'what is there at The Reid for me?'
